How the CKP Sensor Works
The sensor reads a toothed wheel or notched disc attached to the crankshaft. As the crankshaft rotates, the sensor generates signals that inform the engine computer of crankshaft position and speed. Without this information, the computer cannot properly time ignition and fuel injection, preventing the engine from running.
