The EVAP (Evaporative Emissions) system warning typically appears as a check engine light with EVAP-related diagnostic codes (P0440-P0457). This system captures fuel vapors from the gas tank and burns them in the engine rather than releasing them into the atmosphere.
How the EVAP System Works
Fuel vapors from the gas tank are routed through hoses to a charcoal canister that stores them.
